Lick Creek Stream Mitigation

Lick Creek Stream Mitigation Project

Blue Ridge Waterways completed the Lick Creek Mitigation Project under a design-build contract with the Tennessee Department of Transportation in December 2012.  The project is located on a 425 acre farm in Greene County, TN.  Lick Creek drains 12-square-mile rural watershed where buffer clearing, livestock trampling and sedimentation have degraded water quality.  The project included restoration and enhancement on the Lick Creek main stem, Tadpole Branch and 18 UTs for a total length of more than 4.5 miles.  The team also restored over 3 acres of wetland on the Lick Creek floodplain and provided enhancement and protection for three smaller wetlands throughout the site.   Wetland restoration was completed in August 2012.
